Kia ora, I'm Jamie. Kiwi born and bred. Titanic fanboy. Try not to take myself as seriously as 14-year-old me pictured. Cut my teeth working on films like Rings and Avatar. Since then, I've directed some shorts that have screened and won awards around the globe.

Jamie Lawrence (he/him) is a queer Pākehā writer and director based in Aotearoa New Zealand. He's a scholarship graduate of NYC Film Academy, and an alumnus of New Zealand's Script to Screen FilmUp Mentorship Programme and Australia's MIFF Accelerator Lab. As a commercials director, he's ranked in Best Ad’s top 10 Kiwi directors and won multiple craft awards at A-list shows. Jamie is repped by Scoundrel in Asia and Australasia for commercials.
Jamie's features, sci-fi fantasy SKIN (Sweetshop Entertainment) and adventure biopic SOLO (Vendetta), have received development support from Te Tumu Whakaata Taonga NZFC. Cinematic, emotional, and rooted in character, the kaupapa of his work explores the healing power of the natural world, and the fight to feel safe in your own skin.
