A MISFIT
Kia ora, I'm Jamie. Kiwi born and bred. Titanic fan-boy. Not that I mentioned it when James Cameron hired me as his driver on Avatar. Try not to take myself as seriously as my 14-year-old self pictured. Cut my teeth working on films like Rings and King Kong. Since then, I've directed some shorts that have screened and won awards at festivals around the globe.
Jamie (he/him) is a queer Pākehā writer and director based in Aotearoa New Zealand. He is a scholarship graduate of NYC Film Academy, and an alumnus of New Zealand's FilmUp Mentorship Programme and Australia's MIFF Accelerator Lab. As a commercials director, he has ranked in Best Ad’s top 10 Kiwi directors, and received multiple craft awards at A-list shows.
Jamie has two features in development with Te Tumu Whakaata Taonga NZ Film Commission. Cinematic, emotional, and rooted in character, the kaupapa of his work explores the healing power of the natural world, and the fight to feel safe in your own skin. Jamie is repped by scoundrel in Asia and Australasia for commercials.
